This critical Standard provides procedural and physical criteria for the installation, performance, operation, and maintenance of public emergency service communications systems and facilities.
Changes to the 2010 NFPA 1221 include:
- Added requirements for protect the communications center against attack using a vehicle laden with explosives
- A new section to address radio coverage for fireground or tactical radio communications.
- Requirements for overall performance for emergency alarm processing revised from 95% within 60 seconds to 90%.
- Editorial changes for improved consistency so that other NFPA® standards can interface with dispatch and response criteria
